Defensible vehicle condition evidence

Every handover, proven. Not argued.

ProofDrive is a smartphone-first platform that turns the rushed walk-round at rental pick-up and return into a structured, panel-by-panel evidence record — fair to the customer, defensible for the operator, and ready for the insurer.

The problem

The weakest moment in the rental journey is the one that decides who pays.

Vehicle condition is recorded in a hurry, by whoever is on shift, with whatever camera they have. When damage is found at return, both sides are left arguing over photos that were never comparable in the first place.

01

Inspections are rushed and inconsistent

Missed angles, selective framing and paper damage sheets mean the baseline is often incomplete before the customer has even driven away.

02

"Before" and "after" are not actually comparable

Different lighting, distance, rain and focus can invent damage or hide it. Most tools assume two images can be compared. Often they can't.

03

Evidence stays hidden until a charge lands

Customers usually see the operator's record only after money is taken. That breeds suspicion, complaints, chargebacks and one-star reviews.

04

Disputes cost everyone

Operators lose recoverable revenue and staff time; customers lose trust and money; insurers are handed weak, unstructured media to reconcile.

What ProofDrive changes
GuidedThe app walks the user panel by panel — inspection discipline becomes software behaviour, not habit.
ValidatedBlur, glare, occlusion or poor distance are rejected on the spot, while the person is still beside the car.
ComparableA comparability certificate confirms the return capture can fairly be compared to the baseline — or says it can't.
SharedThe customer gets secure access to the baseline at handover, not after a dispute.
Claim-readyAnnotated, time-stamped, panel-referenced claim packs an insurer can act on.
Every detected change carries a confidence score. Borderline cases route to human review, never to a binary verdict.
How it works

One evidentiary chain, from key handover to claim pack.

STEP 1 · PICK-UP

Guided baseline capture

Staff or the customer follow an on-screen route around the vehicle. Each panel must pass a coverage and quality check before the record is accepted.

baseline sealed
STEP 2 · HANDOVER

Customer transparency pass

The renter receives a secure link to the sealed baseline immediately, so both sides start from the same evidence.

shared with renter
STEP 3 · RETURN

Comparable return capture

The same guided route is repeated. ProofDrive certifies panel by panel whether the two records can fairly be compared.

comparability certified
STEP 4 · DECISION

Attribution and claim pack

Changes are attributed to the custody window with a confidence score. Clear cases generate an insurer-ready pack; uncertain ones go to a review desk.
